A fresh and daring filmmaker born and raised in Sydney’s Western suburb of Lakemba.

Fatima’s films take on the themes of identity, racism, war, sexuality, religion and spirituality. Graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts and Australian Film Television and Radio School, she was selected for Screen Australia’s Developing the Developers 2017 program and has just written and directed a short film, commissioned by SBS and Film Victoria, titled Amar.

Fatima wants to tell challenging, entertaining and thought-provoking stories reflective of true Australian culture featuring Muslim protagonists.
